Is this the "Elegance Disease"? I hope not, but its not looking good. Iv had this coral in my tank for 1 year. It has been doing great. Now its gone from pic#1 to the other pics in a matter of 3 days. Those spots in pic2 and 3 did not exist before. No changes in tank parmaters, placement, flow, etc....

On an LPS?

My tank is SPS dominant, last corals added where 2 months ago, and went through my usuall dip. 15minutes heavy lugols solution, followed by 15 minutes of Revive.

No doubt, those are flatworms.

get rid of them, and you should be in the clear.

Having said that, if you have had the elegance for that long, you should be in the clear, as far as the mystery disease is concerned.

The disease causes the tentacles to shrink down to nothing and then the whole body tends to swell quite large. Then it will deflate and recess and be gone in a matter of days.

They come in with the disease and dont usually last more then a month or so. If you had yours for a few months and it remains healthy, consider yourself lucky. It will not catch the disease unless it was during harvest and shipping, or if you place another diseased one in your system.

Soaked it in Flatworm exit last night for approx 30 minutes. dozens of those things came flying out.

i guess ill have to keep my eyes on the other corals.

Today its still shriveled up. but no worms.

i think you can dose flatworm exit to the tank. From what i've heard just be sure to do water changes because of the mass die off.

+1 for nuking the tank. Recommended FlatwormExit procedure is to siphon out as many existing flatworms as possible before and after dosing (to minimize the amount of toxin that will be released by dead flatworms) and to add carbon an hour after dosing (to absorb any toxin that was released).

Personally, if you have a bunch of sps, I'd do a hefty (30-40%)water change an hour after dosing instead of running carbon. And I'd do another hefty water change within 24 hours if I saw signs of toxic impact.

I agree you will have to treat the tank. Use 150% of recommended dosage. Turn off all flow. Siphon off the dieing flatworms because they are toxic. Be sure to blow into cracks and crevices as they will be all over. Do a water change after the process is done and use carbon. You will likely have to do this twice.
