400w ballast

In the instructions it says.. Please do not use with self-starting ( (igniter integrated) light bulb.

I have never heard this term used before! (than I can ever remember)
It has me :confused:

I have heard of and often used, probe start bulbs and pulse start bulbs , but never a "self starting bulb" .. Is there a 3rd type of MH bulbs out on the market?

Can I use both probe and pulse start bulbs with my new 400w coralvue ballast? example xm is probe start, and ushio is pulse start..


MY only thinking on this is------- Coralvue is calling Probe start bulbs "self starting bulbs"

If the 400w ballast can not be used with probe start bulbs... they can not work with the reeflux bulbs that came with my ballast order!
Reeflux are probe start, I just looked at bulb..

Most American, Chinese bulbs are.. German bulbs are generally pulse...
