alternative to hanging halides

anyone know a way to hang halides over a tank without hanging from the ceiling? i was thinking of using a arm style system like on solana, but that my be a little hard to do. or some wooden stands? i tried that but the bottom bar blocked light from entering the tank. who has any idea?

you can run an upright support up both ends of the stand and a cross support across the top between them. Then just mount your lights to the top support. You can also stand two supports up behind the tank. Just mount them to the stand and use something like shelf brackets to extend the light out over the tank.

i used a 2x4 and mounted braces on one wall and then my cabinet on the other side and just slid the 2x4 on top of them so i can take it down easily to adjust height if need be. before i had my cabinaet i just built stand basicaly that rested on each end of the tank and had a 2x4 going across the top, didn't block any light i can get you pics if you like
