Overnight, my Udotea went ghostly white. I think it's because of a too-large salinity change that I did after being away on vacation.

I have some halimeda in my tank that will sometimes turn white when the lights are out and then get green again after the lights have been back on for a bit. I would give it a few days to see if it perks back up, but even if it doesn't, I'm pretty sure the white you see is the calcerous skeleton of the algae. This will eventually crunmble down and become a part of your substrate. I don't think you need to worry about it causing an ammonia spike.

Yeah, I'm not worried about any adverse consequences...although I'm not sure I want a tank full of Udotea :) I just thought it looked kind of cool.
