Hi all~

This is not mine but I also want to know what it is..

He said it is not definately cyano bacteria and seems like a algae.

It is always existed regardless of light..

And the growth rate is so fast

He did not dose any biological or chemical supplement at all.

This picture is taken by mobile phone.

Well...I haven't heard of a black algae, not that it isn't an algae,I just never heard of one that color.I would be more inclined to think it is a sponge or a fungus, because they wouldn't need light like an algae would.

Can only see dark areas on picture provided, guessing it's a filamentous black growth. When he tears or pulls a piece out, does it float? Also, what are his phosphate and nitrate levels?

I've also got some black mat type stuff growing in patches. It tears out pretty easily. I'm pretty sure its a sponge. I really havent examined it closely yet.
