Jeremy,
I have had my reef octopus now for a few weeks.
I am not sure that it is set up correctly.
I am running in about 8 inches of water.
Should i have the 90 degree elbow submerged in water or should it be tilted to the side to relieve back pressure?
Where should i have the water at inside the skimmer? at the neck or higher?
would adding a gate valve help with adjustment of water level? tube seems very temper mental.

Hi,

Get the outflow pipe out of the water. This will help prevent any backpressure or siphoning that could be occurring. As far as the water level goes I woudl recommend starting it right around the seam to where the cup sets on the body. The depth of 8" that you have it in will be just fine.

Thanks,
Jeremy

the adjustment tube is a PITA. ( for a while) .. I have had mine 4-5 mths now.. it does just fine... these skimmers seem to have break-in periods for each part!

I think they should be sold with silicone grease for all "O'rings...
I wonder if PA sells it! I need some badly ;)

I love my OCTX 200!
