I have a 55 gallon mixed reef, and am starting to see a couple small bubble algae show up on some of the rock. The tank has been up since September 2008.

What are the best methods of removing this algae without having it spread all over the tank?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Try twisting it off without popping it. Thats the tough part. I usually remove mine during water changes and try to siphon near the spot I am twisting.

Some also say emerald crabs will eat it, I had one and it didn't touch the stuff. Not sure about fish or other animals. Good luck

I had a patch that was flourishing in a hard to see part of my tank. It was a bunch of little elongated bubbles. I had no idea how to reach it much less remove it. I added a sally lightfoot and to my surprise the crab wiped out the algae patch in about three weeks. YMMV

I had/have the same problem. I put in an emarald crab and it's almost gone.
