I am trying to set up a 30g tank. This is my first tank that is not a all in one. I cracked the sump that was a 12g aqua pod made into a sump due to the fact that it fit in the stand. this threw off my plans and now I am unsure of what to do. or if i should go another route. I was thinking that maybe i should get a stand made or buy one, so that I could just put a 40b or 30b underneath for a sump due to the fact that the space I have to work with in the stand is so small. I am also unsure if i should use a submersible return pump. any help would be great I am very new to this and I want to do it right.

That's quite a return pump for that size tank. ;) You're looking for something around 3-5x your display volume for return. I'd get a small submersible for that tank, imo. Look into Eheims.

ya that is a hell of a pump down there blow the top off the tank why dont ya lol......thats a cool little set up ya got i like it.......i personally would run a little internal pump nothing really expensive or anything you only need like a quiet one 2200 or a mag 7 at the most depending on your head height just make sure it is a pressure rated pump and figure out how high the finshed plumbing is from the sump to the tank and look from there on pumps.......as for the aquapod being cracked it was hard for me to see rite now im on my phone is it the tank it's self? or a baffle? if you are a little handy i would say make a new sump there always fun to build.....and easy...
