I'm setting up my 29g reef tank, and realize I really aught to upgrade my lights if I want to keep anemones happy. So, I'm looking at the Sunpod. Opinions? I don't want to spend more than I have to, but I do want a good lighting system. I don't want to change the Sunpod's bulbs, I want to be able to buy one thing and be done with it. Is the Sunpod the right choice? If so, will the 150w cut it? What are the advantages of the 250w?

Thanks.

A 150w will be fine for you and an anemone. I have the 36" 2x150w over my 65g and it is sps dominated. For me, I do wish that I had gone with 2x250w for my tank, but Im still very happy and have great results.
I know you dont want to hear this, but I would suggest changing the bulb. I think it would be recommended to change the bulb of any fixture but the most expensive as the stock bulbs are not as good as those others available.
You will be fine sticking with the stock bulb for the first year if you want to, but when you do replace it with a better bulb, you'll appreciate the fixture even more.

The 150 with phoenix bulb. The 250 is wayyy too hot for 30. The 150 Sunpod bulb should be plenty of light for SPS and clam on sandbed that small of a tank.

The 250 is better you could get away with it if you have a big sump like 20 gallons of water +.

I have an open top, ac at 73 in my house, and fan, and I have about 2 degree farenheight swings with about 50 total gallons water net of LR and sand.

Thank you! Anyone have any suggestions for the best place to buy the Sunpod and Phoenix bulbs?
