I'm going to have to sell my 180g tank/stand/lighting/LR/sump/skimmer/etc. Here's the details:

180g RR tank/stand/canopy
Ecosystem sump with plumbing and durso pipes
Octopus NW200 skimmer, in-sump
4x 175w MH w/magnetic ballasts
2x 160w VHO w/Ice Cap 660 ballast
200+lbs of Live Sand (it's a DSB so it would likely need a good rinsing before use, not sure how live it'll be after that)
200+lbs of Live Rock (I'll be keeping about 50lbs of what I have for another tank, but there are some in this bunch that have coral, such as button polyps and mushrooms that can go with the tank)
Couple heaters, not yet sure which ones I'll need, but I'll definitely at least throw in the 300w heater
3x Koralia #4 Powerheads - 2 of these are practically brand new

$2000 obo, and must be able to pick up in Camp Hill. Pic is below (though it's old, 50lbs of base rock was added after it was taken), and all the livestock is sold or will be going into my 29g. Questions are welcome. Thanks.

If you end up "parting" it out I would be interested in your Koralia's. And some "rubble rock" ( No shrooms though - got enough)

I'm going to try not to part out, but I'll keep that in mind if I do. Thanks! :D

Monk... I am sorry to hear this, things haven't been great for you lately as it is....ugh... Is it just a cost to keep the tank up at this time issue, or do you need the money? Because if its a keep up issue I know my self and I'm sure fellow club members could help out with supplies and labor :-)

Thanks. It's actually both, I'm going to need the money and the cost to keep it running is too high too. I'll be fine with a 29g for a while and in a few years when we're ready to buy a new house I'll start planning for another big one.

Thanks guys. I just hope it doesn't get too desperate that I'd have to sell my bike.

Also want to add my sympathies. If I wasn't in the same situation myself... I can understand not wanting to part out the system, but if you are forced to, I'd be interested in buying some rock. Just let me know if it comes down to that.

BTW, I forgot to mention that there's a Gen-X PCX-40 return pump at 1190gph included. In fact, I'll throw in a spare too.

I would like to extend my sympathies to you. I was just there after getting laid off. I just got a Job in camp hill at EDS off Erford road. You could look there. I got a job working for Sun Microsystems contracted by HP- EDS. Let me know. I would also take the rock from you. I could give you 1.50 per pound. Let me know if and when you decide to part out. I think you could get more money for it that way.

WoW..."$1.50 a pound" that's looking out for a reef club brother!

I'll consider EDS, thanks, though I'm also considering a career change, I'm tired of getting laid off.

As for the rock, $1.50 is a tad low.... I have someone coming Friday to pick out about 50lbs, so there will be about 150lbs left. I'm not sure how much I'll want, but likely around $2.50/lb.

The tank is still up for sale and I'd rather not part it out if possible. As soon as the LR has mostly gone I'll be ready for those who are buying the fish too.

This whole process has been really difficult for me, so thanks to everyone who's helping out by purchasing these things!

dalilgriffith

I can give you 2.50 . Yes 1 .50 was low but we are all strapped

NCNBilly

$2.50 is still pretty good, I'm tempted to pick up a few lbs so I can take Joel's damsel-from-hell out of my display into a nano FOWLR in my daughter's room.

Sounds good guys. PM me on your schedules next week and we'll see if we can work something out. I also have rocks with tons of coral on it that I'll want to get rid of too if you're interested.

Elysia
03/26/2009, 12:55 PM
Monk-- If you are interested in parting out the rock, as long as your going rate is under $5/lb, I'm there. I can't buy live rock locally for that little, plus I'm sure your looks good. After almost $1,000 into the VW, its coming back, inspected, today, so any time next week would be great. You can let me know. I don't have a certain number of lbs I am looking for -- more like whatever rocks float my boat.

So I'm parting out the rock, and anyone who still has fish held for them can likely begin picking them up next week. After that, the tank is all ready for anyone who wants to buy it and I'll be lowering the price since the LR won't be included. I'll come up with a new price once the LR and livestock is gone.

I've got a pretty open schedule at this point.
I'm good any day during the week, though evenings are tough, what is convenient for you?

m0nk

For everyone who's reading this thread, I'm lowering the price of the tank. The LR is gone and I'm going to take the Koralia's out of the total cost, so it's now down to $1500 !!! Pick it up within the next two weeks and I'll keep the Koralias in the package for the same $1500 price! Basically I need this tank out so I can sell my house and I don't want to move it before selling it off.

And for everyone who is picking up fish, I was wondering if Friday evening would work for you all? We need to do some other things on Saturday and I'll likely be tearing the tank down Friday if everyone can make it that evening instead. Please let me know, I'll try to PM everyone. Thanks, and sorry for moving the time around!

Friday evening should be fine for me (Chromis). If Bill can't make it, I'd be happy to pick up his Mandarin as well.

Glad to hear that you were able to sell off the rock. I am very happy w/ mine. I was able to pull out the few pieces of crappy terrestrial base rock in the tank, and replace it with live rock filled w/ coraline and coral. Does't get any better than that!

Can't wait to see the 29 gallon when you are done. It should be incredible!

We can try for the afternoon, if we can do it sometime after 3, thanks. I want to pull the rock out before going for the fish but only want to start doing that within a couple hours of taking it all down to Gettysburg to setup in the 29g. I'm sure it'll work out. :D

He's doing better, but apparently got really bad. It turns out that it wasn't pancreatitis but in fact his gall bladder had gone gangrenous. They wheeled him into emergency surgery at 8am Saturday. He was real lucky that they caught it because another day or two of that could have killed him.

Hi Joe,
Been flying under the radar I guess:) Usually, I just lurk here on RC without even logging in unless I have something to contribute. I have wanted to show up at the meetings but there always seems to be a schedule conflict because I shoot a lot of pool during the late fall , winter, and early spring months.

Monk,
I'll see you Friday.

Thanks!

Brian

Plus, I appear to have tons of dead/dying base rock left. It was buried in my sump and under the sand in my DSB. I'll let that go for $1/lb. Anything more than 30lbs will go for only $30. :D

Your mandarin seems happy - the devil damsel is leaving him alone much to my surprise.

BTW - did you have some type of encrusting monti on the rock you gave me? It's a coral of some sort, for sure - looks browned out but the polyps have some yellow flecks to them. I'll try and snap a pic.

Very happy to hear that. Yeah, it was probably some cap, most of the pieces of outer-lying rock in my tank had cap on them. :D
