Ive seen pics of "switch boxes" on RC. They look to me like a power strip but they have an on/off switch for each plug. If anyone using them can tell me where they are getting them and/ or tell me what they are using to make them that would be great.
Sry I have no pics to show you what i mean.

best price I've found for them is at ww.progearwarehouse.com for $19.99 plus $6 shipping. I ordered 2 a few months back and am very happy with them. Search for DJ power strip on the site, you'll find them.

i started w/ the 8-switch panel from amazon.com $29.99 & free shipping (as mentioned above) but they are currently out of stock, so the other amazon retailers charge shipping. you'll be hard-pressed to find them less than $29.99, so shipping rate will determine best price

once i got my 8-switch, i got to thinking that if i plugged everything into it & then plugged it into my GFCI, if the GFCI tripped, the whole tank was down, so i sold it & ordered (2) of the 4-switch version so i can split vital tank stuff between them. they ended up being the exact same price as the 8-switch & amazon had them w/ free shipping as well

take a look at my build thread (lil red house) on page 2. the 4-switch ones are angled on the back instead of square to the face & the plugs are on the top rear instead of the back, so depending on how you intend to mount them, you might have to leave a good bit of room for the rear plugs

I just got my A DJ strip from Amazon. I plan on getting a second once I get closer to finishing my re-build. I will have each on a separate circuit. Not sure what will happen with that redundancy if I end up with a good controller unit like I plan to eventually.

I originally planned on doing a DIY build like seen above. I even have the outlets, boxes and switches purchased. In the end I got too lazy and figured the DJ strip did what I wanted with a cleaner look.

My only complaint with the DJ strip was it looks a little sloppy. The switches are not all straight and one of the number labels was missing. The label is not a big issue but I do wish it had more height so I could put my own labels on it.

Jeremy... nice build. I think moutning the strips into a panels is a nice look and still easier than a full DIY build.

LoL they were 15 bucks a few years ago for the 8 switch version. I still use a couple of them. Just be warned they are VERY cheap. I took all mine apart and checked all the connections. Some were very lose. It was a easy fix, but something you might want to check..

nice :)

i have seen the dj strip before w/ differnt branding, so it's probably a company that builds them & then brands them for different companies

For clarity sake, the one at progearwarehouse is the chauvet model, not the american dj model. It is $19.99 in black or silver. 15 amp, 8 switch. Same as the american dj one but $10 cheaper.

I like the price on the Eliminator model, but since I have the American DJ version already, the different branding just would not look nice... I am to anal retentive to have a simple mis-match like that. Wish I had seen the cheaper one first!

that's what they make acetone (finger nail polish remover) for....debrand them both & then they match :D
LOL
