I have some old phtoplankton from...best if used by July 1st 2008.
Is it a bad idea to use this still in my tank?
It's 30oz, I just don't want to waste it if I could:D

why do you use phyto? as I understand, most corals don't use it as a food source, and it's probably polluting the tank more than anything.

Live phytoplankton form the base of the marine food chain. It feeds the zooplankton, or filter-feeding organisms, which can be found amongst your live rock or in your refugium. The zooplankton then becomes food for your corals and even your fish. When your fish and corals eat the zooplankton, they experience an increase in health and vitality, and also a boost in coloration. Live phytoplankton will also directly feed clams, sponges, and feather dusters.
