I posted this earlier in the Reef Discussion forum, but i figured this would be a better spot for some feedback. Anyways, last spring my family flew out to attend my Brother in law's wedding in Carbondale, CO. He runs a fish/floral store in down town Carbondale which houses some very awesome fish for nano tanks. He had an amazing variety of small Gobies, Perchlets, Basslets, Wrasses, and various other creatures. We went back to his house where he has about 5 smaller tanks, and while i was looking at one of them i asked "What is this fish in here?" It ended up being a Golden Rhomboid! I didn't even know about them when i saw it, but wow what a beauty! To get to my point, i'd love to see your pics if you are lucky enough to have one of these little guys! Thanks for the input!

WOW! Thats quite an impressive setup there! I love the pics of the Golden's. They are truely a beautiful fish! Thanks for sharing! I hope some more people chime in, but i'm really not expecting too many. It's a pretty rare find, and it's totally sweet that you have 2 of them!

Nice tank. Is there another name for this fish? I have seen them before but it was not called a Rhomboid Golden Fairy Wrasse.

Cirrhilabrus rhomboidalis also commonly called the diamond tail fairy wrasse. But common names vary greatly as people just make them up. Brad, you have two males??!! No issues?

Yea, I have 2 male rhomboids and 2 male pyleis, plus that new cebu male pylei. They all get along fine so far. They have all been with me for almost 2 yrs now and no serious issues. I also have my male jordani and 2 male tongan flames and a male hooded, which resembles the tongans alot. They flare up every once in awhile, but nothing serious. When I first bought the tongan flames, they were sold to me off D/D as a pair, but the female changed to male.

I had a similar experience with C. bathyphilus. I bought a pair, the female changed to male, then the male reverted.

Yeah. My 2 are in my tank, and dug into the sandbed within 15 seconds... Well have to wait and see how long it takes for them to come out....

The Labouti and Flame are wedged in rocks.... Hope for them to come out by tomorrow morning and eat.... Fairy Wrasses usually come out by the next morning rigfht?? My Scotts tooks a day or 2... My Lineatus was like 24-48 hours..... This Labouti is Super Duper male coloration...

By the way, Mike called me to thank me for the sale..... Nice guy in person by the way... If you could believe, you can do a tad better when you are there on price... His Prices are insane as it is...

Brad, let's start a thread with pics and progress on our Choats...

PS, My Regal died in my tank move 2 months back... He was such a healthy, eating regal.. :(

Good luck with them. Were they eating at the LFS?

DarthSimon

I got them right out of the delivery, not sure.. It's not a LFS... It's an online company hat you can pick up at...

He seemed nice on the phone when I first talked to him. Then he called me back when he put the chaote online. He was hard to understand on the phone though. But its on the way here now.
Too bad about your regal, mine is doing great still and acts like he owns the place. I'll let you know tomorrow when it gets hear and then we will start another thread on them.

I should have taken pics in the drip bucket, but didn't think of it.... I'm crossing my fingers they will come out of the sand tomorrow... I visibly saw were both of them dug in.... Within inches of each other....

The flame is already making his move.. The Scott's was chasing him a bit... :( The Labouti is behind the tank just chillin...

Useing an acclimation box for the wrasses are the best way to get them used to your tank and others in it. I just dont know if will be a good idea with the leopard.
