I recently built a canopy to house my mh's and completely forgot about the fact that MH heat my water like crazy without a fan! so i was wondering what the best place (that's not online if possible, so i dont have to wait for it to be shipped) to purchase canopy fans is?

i'm using 120mm (4") regular old pc fans....radio shack, best buy, computer stores, etc. places like this will typically be more expensive than buying from like ebay, but like you said....you don't have to wait for them to be shipped to ya, so you get instant gratification LOL

then all you need to power them are a regular old "wall wart"...as in one of those ac/dc wall adapters. you need one approx 12volt & the amps will be determined by how many fans you want to run. most pc fans typically require 1/4 - 1/2 amp each (250mA - 500 mA), so if wanted to run 2 fans, you'd need a power brick that supplies 12v / 1a

then it's just a matter of splicing the wires of the power adapter & fans together

Just like james3370 said the best bet would be to look at some of the computer stores for the fans if you have any and then a Best Buy or Radio Shack for a local source. Walmart will have multiple ac/dc chargers to choose from or if you have kids you may even have something from one of their old toys or even your old electronics laying around that may work, Just look at its output specs to be sure.

Vantech and Enermax are a few brand names that have some quite and good air moving fans to look for at the store......

another option (depending on how much room you have in the canopy) would be a 6" clip-on desk fan. i bought one at kmart for $10 to use on an open-top nano that had a MH fixture & it worked great

Well I guess if I'm only paying for shipping and not the actual product, I can wait for them to be shipped. What is the diamater of the fans and how much is shipping?

they are 120mm (4") square

how far apart do you need the fans to reach?? meaning are you gonna put them side by side or 1 on each side of the tank?? ...if the 2nd, how long is the tank??

shipping looks to be $5

Yea I forgot to mention the height. I don't remember exactly but it's somewhere near the 15-17 inch range
