What, and how many Maxi-Jets will I need for a 40 breeder to get good flow... one Maxi-jet on each side? If so, what should I be looking for, 600 / 900/ 1200? Anyone have a similar setup? Please let me know.

I have 2 1200s in my 29 gallon. Every once in a while I add a 900 to blow behing my rockwork for a few days. I would say you might want to start with 3. Another option would be to get 2 stronger PHs.

wow, 2 1200s in a 29? what kind of fish/corals are growing in there? you've gotta have a ton of stuff spiraling around, right?

Not really. Its not as much as you think. I have clowns, firefish and a goby. For corals I have zoas, acans, duncans, frogspawn, kenya tree, shrooms, and a bunch more. The frogspawn and tree barely move in the current. I have one on each side aiming towards the front center.
2 1200s is only 590 gph. Thats less than 20 x my tank volume. Ive seen 30x even 40x times the tank volume.

nice. i have one 900 in my 24 aquapod. i had the mod kit on it, and geeze, everything was going round and round. i'll probably start w/ 2 1200's and then go from there. thanks for the input
I have a 45 and a 30 sump/refug and i have 1/1200 and 2 korella 1's. I have great flow. The one thing that you should try to do is create turbulence not whirl pools. good luck
