I am building a stand for a 50 gallon aquarium and i am no carpenter but i dropped a ton of cash on a bunch of hitachi tools. I got a table saw, compound miter saw and man what a difference having nice tools makes. Anyway I have the frame of my stand made and its made of 2x4s and i sealed the seams inside with caulk and bought some kilz paint but im wondering if i should use kilz and then paint the inside the color i want then seal it with something so its waterproof or do i just jump straight into a waterproof paint like marine boating paint? Im confused if someone can lend me a hand on this one.

Thanks, heres my stand so far:

I was told to use enamel, if i used enamel paint is it still ok to use oil based kilz paint?

I plan on wrapping it in oak

kilz will be fine for the inside. If you want to paint with an epoxy paint that'll work too, but kilz is pretty much a sealant primer.

What can i put over the kilz to have a nice finish on the inside that will be waterproof?
