a couple weeks ago my hermit was messing with my pink digi and ever since it hasn't opened up. I thought it was dying or dead and 2 nights ago decided to turn the lights on after they had been off and it had almost full pe. I know at night the polyps come out more but it has absoultely none during the day? What could I do to influence it to open its polyps during the day?

Is it possible you have a fish nipping at it during the day?

I tried feeding during the day and literally starred at my tank for like 4 hours drinking beer and never saw a fish nip at it. I'm lost at why its not opening during the day.Any other advice greatly appreciated.

the same lol thats probably ur problem. if it was like mine he nipped at my clams and any sps frag or colony i placed in the tank. if its any consolation mine only ate corals and clams that were over $50 so he had expensive taste

Anyone have similar experiences with other blenny fish? How about the "lawnmower" variety?

I had a lawnmower in my 1st tank for 3 years without a problem and in my current tank for 9 months until it jumped out and died. Thats why I didn't suspect any fish .

I had a bi-color for a few weeks and he did the same thing. I had to remove all of my rock and coral to catch him. I guess the up side is that i got to fix some of the things I didnt like with my old aquascape.

I'm going to try to catch it with a net today and if that doesnt work make a DIY fish trap.
