I'm looking for some feedback from those of you who have done in-wall tanks... I am installing a 60 gallon 24x24x24 rimless from glasscages.com. It will be installed in my foyer, centered on a 30 inch wall with built in cabinets below. The tank will have a custom picture frame around it.

Decorating standards say to hang pictures at 60-65 inches at the center point of the picture. When I did my measurements that seemed high. I drew lines on the wall and am thinking of the bottom of the tank at 45inches and the top at 69inches.

Thoughts, feedback, advice??

if you can fit it and still have room for lighting and working in the tank i would say 36-48 inchs i had my 75 at 42. i like to walk up to a tank and look in rather then have to bend down to see it. also laying on the couch you have a nice view

mine is about 37 inches off the ground, its an in-closet tank. I love the configuration of it, when I sit in front of it, the center of the tank is at eye level. When im standing, I look down a little but can still see everything.

its a relatively new tank. The frame still needs to be painted

Sfauth I have 215 in the wall tank is 72x29x24 deep my tank is 48" to the bottom and is nice to view it, my ceiling is 8' high but everything is in the back closet so all you see is the tank. Drywall is returned to the tank this makes it clean finish.

depends on whats in the room. For instance, ours in in the wall with a large stuffed leather chair in front of it. So we have ours an inch above the back of the chair. Its nice at that height because when your sitting anywhere in the room, you can see the entire tank but the sand bed without getting up.

Thanks for the great responses so far - this will be in my foyer/entry into the house and there will not be any other furniture in the space other then the built in cabinet below. This tank will only be viewed while standing.

Stand height at 36" off floor. I would plan plenty of height above for access. My long handle scraper requires a lot of room above.

how tall are you? Im 6 1, my preference for a tank only viewed by standing would be around 37-40 inches. Keep in mind that the taller it is, the more difficult it would be to reach in there. How deep will the tank be? Even standing on a chair I can barely reach the bottom of my tank at 37

I'm 6ft tall myself, I drew some additional lines on the wall and it looks like the magic number is somewhere between 42inches and 45 inches. The tank will have access in two ways, the sump area can be reached through the doors on the front or through a vented door on the side wall off the tank that will also give me access up to the 8ft ceiling.

any height. mines about 3ft off of ground to bottom of tank. its in a basement, so limited to height. the 120 looks great in the wall. i just sit on the bed and watch my living art.

Mine is 44" and I like it. Still need to finish some and replace some wood work... I'm getting to it... Only been seventeen months or something like that...

The tank is 24.5" tall total, but with the trim, you only see about 22" of it. It is that high so the door knob and dead bolt clears the glass:lol:

my old 360 gallon (96x24x36W) was about 56" off the floor. i am 6'1 also and gave me a great view. however, my wife who is 5'2 complained that she only ever saw the bottom of the corals.
