Can a pair of Watanabe and Bellus Angels be kept together?

If so what would be an appropriate tank size?

They may work in your 200g. Usually adding different Genis isn't problamatc. However, I tried it and it was out and out warfare which didn't stop.

Matt - Thanks. But before I jump the gun and buy the pairs. If the angels were to fight would the Bellus pair be ok in a 60gal tank long term?

No. A 60g is way to small. They are swimmers and need space.

I would suggest that you add them all at the same time.

I also agree the 60 would be too small for them.

Not sure if it would work. I had 2 female watanabes and 3 female melanospilos in my fish holding tank which is around 250 gallons in volume. I added my male watanabe last September and boy after it acclimated well, it has been chasing around the female melanospilos around like crazy. Good thing I had a some of my extra LR pillars in there for the fish to hide.

The male and one of the female watanabes are now in my tank and doing well but I now cannot put in any of the female melanospilos which is a bummer.

Justplainfishy - Thanks fro the info.

So far its 2 have stated that mixing the 2 species is not a good idea.

I guess I'll have to decide which pair I really want more.

I kept a trio of watanabei's (two females and one large male) with a pair of two female melanospilos in my 155G with no problems. The melanospilos were added first, the trio about three months later. I did not have any aggression problems and kept these fish together for over a year. Good luck.

imo it's 50-50 (or worse) depending on the species, sex, etc. I haven't read too much into it, but I've read many conflicting reports.
