Does anyone have a link that helps ID T. clams? Are there differences in the mantle, or do you have to rely on the shell for ID?

there are many characteristics that can be used to identify clams, here's the link. (http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-07/jf/feature/index.php) if you're still not sure, just post up a pic :)

Here (http://www.reefaquariumforum.com/tridacnid-clam-id-made-easy-t1994.html) is another great page on IDing clams too.

Thanks for the links. I'm still not sure what I have though. I'll try to get some pics tomorrow when the lights are on.

and be careful of what people claaim there clams are... theres an LFS near my place that claims to have maxima crocea hybrids, but they're just blue mantle maximas. he rips people off saying that his stuff is exotic. just be careful man. some people are just in it to make a buck

I recently bought one, not only because it is a beautiful clam but so I could closer examine it. I agree they aren't hybrids. But that is another upcoming thread, lets get back on topic now:)
