I remember there is a type of white playsand that they carry you can use, what brand was it though?

I need to add some sand to the tank. When my 20 started to leak and i went to this 30 i never added any sand so now ive only got +/-15lbs of sand in a 30gallon tank. Ive got worms and critters crawling all over the place so dont really want to drop money on even more livesand.

I haven't bought any in awhile. I used to buy a lot of southdown, and it worked awesome. I don't know if they still carry it though.

Southdown sand is what you want... If you're not sure if its acceptable or not, you can do the "vinegar test"... Just take a sample, add some vinegar, if it bubbles, use it... If it doesn't don't... :D

Southdown is no longer sold in stores, and the issue with playsand is it often contains quartz. Quartz will scratch glass and a small grain or two caught between the glass and your magnetic algae scraper can do a lot of damage before you realize it.
