Hi,

At the moment my new 130 gallon tank is at the cycling stage and the tank will be sps dominated. I used to have a six line wrasse in my old tank to help controlling various possible pests. But, he had committted some crimes including killing and eating a decent sized cleaner shrimp. Therefore, I need to find an alternative species for my new tank which is not so aggresive (well, relatively at least) but still doing the job.

All inputs will be appreciated, thanks.

i would say if you can find one try and get a radiant wrasse. I picked one up a couple of weeks ago and i have to say its one of the coolest fish i have ever owned. They are reef safe and shouldn't really pick on any of you shrimp or crabs. They also put alot of color into your tank and if you have a 130 it will give it plenty of room to swim and grow.

radiant is a good choice, and I'd also recommend one from that genus. The canary, christmas, melanurus, any of those would be a good choice.

I dont know if they are still having the sale but Live aquaria had mystery wrasses on sale for $99 last week. It is one of the more expensive ones but they are awesome looking fish. I got one last week and love it. Very cool fish.

Not sure weather it would help with pest problems but my flame wrasse is awesome. Not aggressive and doesn't eat my blood or peppermint shrimp. Great personality as well as beautiful to look at.

Fairy wrasses, including flames, are not useful in removal of predators.

+1 on the mysterywrasse I have had mine for about a month now and just can"y stop watching it. I have heard that if you are going to have other wrasses to add the mystery last or at same time.

My vote is for either radiant or yellow.

Thank you for the suggestions guys.
Do you think 3/4 to 1 inch thick layer of substrate enough for a radiant?

2-3" would be better. They can get 5-6" long and 3/4" is probably not enough.
