I have a warner marine skimmer that has way too much turbulance at the neck, no matter how much air I allow in, and would like to extend/lengthen the neck by about 8". I'm sure that this would definetly improve the overall performance of the skimmer. It is a recirculating skimmer with two eheim 1262's and doesn't really pull any skimate.

I was thinking of making a cut at the neck and just adding an 8" peice of acrylic with the same diameter. Would this be too difficult of a task? How do I make such a precise cut to allow the pieces of acrylic to lay flush?

Also, What type of acrylic should I use for this? The outside diameter of the neck is 5.75" and 1/8" thick.

use cast acrylic tubing as for the cut i would probally use a band saw then have a nice big piece of sandpaper stuck down to a flat surface and sand it nice and smooth and flat.........

Do you know of any good online stores that sells a 1' tube for the diameter that I need?
