Does anyone know anything about these fish or have experience with them?

Here is the scientific name: Monocentris japonicus

They don't have a great survival rate Heath, they don't respond well to the often rough handing they receive from wholesalers. Beyond that, they do require "non-intense" lighting. They seem to do ok in public aquariums, the Seattle Aquarium had a tank with a bunch of them, pretty cool fish....I would probably leave them to the "Pros" at the public aquariums though for their hefty price tag.

wetwebmedia has some pretty good info on them.

Thanks Kirk for the response. With that info I will not persue this fish any longer.

There is a nice chapter in Reef Fishes volume 1 (by Scott Michael). Besides having a pretty poor survival record in captivity, I think they also need a very passive tank.

LOL thanks for that michael........Well the tank has been filled for 3hrs so far with no signs of a bad reseal. If no signs within the next 2hrs I will be adding the salt, Sand, and some LR

Goodluck! I'd wait a bit longer just in case, resealing a tank is pretty risky!

I added 1 container of salt at 1pm and let it sit till 2pm and then added the second container of salt. Things are looking great so far as to the sealing of the tank. I used a tremendous amount of sylicone when I resealed it to make sure it got a good seal.
