Take the sock to Lowe's and find a 3-4"PVC fitting that will hold your sock. Then figure out how to mount the PVC to your application. R

+2 for just sticking the filter sock in there with the return plumbing going a few inches into it. My return going about 6" into the filter sock, so it always stays up on its own. I just pull it down to remove it and it's super simple to replace.

How about a supercheap and easy DIY alternative solution to hanging a filter sock?

That's a plastic "robe hanger" for a bathroom door holding up my sock... I think I paid either $1.99 or $2.49 for it in WalMart.

Dirty sock comes off really easy but won't come loose or fall off on its own.

Super easy, super cheap and I'm sure that hanger would fit over a standard tank / sump lip as easily as it does my tote.

can someone please take a pic of their "stand up on their own" implementation? i'm having trouble visualizing this.
