Can I keep sps?

Im starting up my new tank its a 56 Column the dimensions are 30 x 18.5 x 24. and I have a 24" light fiture with 250 watts MH and 130 watts of PC. I haven't yet built the canopy top yet but im going to go with something 8 to 12 inches off the water. Any imput be helpful.

that should be enough light, but you have to wait until your other parameters are stable before adding sps. i would wait at least 2-3 months if i were you.

SPS its not only based on light. You need very good quality of water for example (RODI), water currents for example (tunze streems) and as Shaggy saids the more closer to perfect parameters, thats what im doing now with my tank.

well the tank im moving from has been up for about a year and a half now and I'm taking most of the stuff from in the (rock and sand and sump goodies) so I don't think cycling will be an issue and If I needed extra cycled water the 265 down stairs is always a big helper! :) But in the new tank im doing strictly RoDI so I'm thinking there shouldn't be a problem! :) can't wait till tomorrow. Thanks for the input.
