how old is your tank what are you water params?if you tank is new it looks like a diatom outbreak. I 'm going through the same thing its is all part of cycleing.turbo snailes eat the stuff.ut if they fall over they can not right themselves.do you have a full tank shot

Does it come off when you rub it or is it stuck on pretty good?

This is like 21 questions now. Have you added or changed anything in your tank over the last few months?

i changed my lights from 4x65w PC to 4X54W T5, added K3 in Jan. added K4 last week

flow used to be 2x K1, and mj400 modded + return
now its K3, K4 + return and a K1 that turns on at night

i added a couple zoa frags, 1 ric, and a couple acro frags and they have good PE

i switched my drain from vinyl tubing to PVC

what else can i say.....i run carbon, change it every 2 weeks, water change every friday (5gallons)
turboflotor 1000 with OR 2700 (needlewheel recirculating), air valve on the venturi, mj 900 feed

chaeto in sump

the algae is also all over the walls of the sump and on my chaeto and wherever light hits

Maybe the extra flow stired things up or it is because of the new light. It looks like a tank when it is cycling. I would try some turbo snails like weaselslucks suggested. The only other question to ask is how are your water parameters?

The lighting change alone is enough to start a diatom outbreak.

Turbo and/or astrae snails work great.

ok, ill try the turbos, too late for FTS, lights out, ill get one tomorow, but i got an old fts

i have not measured my params since it was actually cycling

fish : lawnmower blenny, 3 blue-green chromis, 2 false percs

inverts: blue leg hermits, electric blue hermits, acro crab, various little critters

older FTS when i was fighting cyano

i would get aout ten.wait a while see if they keep it clean if not at 5 more unhtill they make your tank how you want it.it wont outright kill anything so its not like you have to run out to the fish store tonight

I dont know about anyone else but I've had better luck from Astrae snails than turbos for diatoms, but for GHA the turbos seem to work better.

Just from my experience of course.
