My VHO fixture just got destroyed and I need lighting asap. I can get a hamilton 24" 400 watt MH with 2 14k actinic for 275$ right now but i don't know if that will be enought light for my 75gl tank thats 48" long.

IMo youd be better with 2 seperate 200 watt fixtures. The 400 will be enough to grow whatever corals you want but its probably not going to have the par you need at each end. You could probably keep sps in the middle and softies on either end if the light is centered.
I have seen lights rigged to a motor that moved them from one end of the tank to the other. The light would continuously move back and forth to light the entire tank. I dunno if that is an option or worth the money but it would probably work.
