instead of phosban reactor

I really need to get a handle on my phosphates, and I'm considering buying a phosban reactor. I have a Magnum Hang On Tank canister filter. Can I just put the phosban in there instead of carbon, or do I really need the reactor? The carbon is the only thing I use the Magnum for.

You can use it in the magnum. I would make a GAC|GFO|GAC sandwich.
