Hey everyone,
In my continuous struggle between MH/t5s and just t5s, I'm wondering if anyone has any PAR measurements of their tx5. We have 6 of them running at work and all are awesome, but I don't have a PAR meeter and the line to get it from the club is a mile long. Just wondering if anyone has any off hand to help sway my decision. I know that I'm going to miss shimmer lines though..... But I hate how MH bulbs only give light from one angle, the heat they put out (no AC in my dorm room...) and the limits of color options.... Was thinking of putting a tX5 on my tank, as it is only 10 gallons. I figure the two inches of overhang wouldn't be too bad.
thanks everyone!

Wow thats way to much lite you better have that very very very far up, i have that on my 70 gal sps tank and when i first put it on it was bleaching my corals. Now it colors my sps and they grow like crazy love the fixture.

We have 4 of them over 33 longs at work, which is about the same height and everything, including softies, are fine, so I think i'll be okay.

For a bulb combo I was thinking

actinic blue
UVL 75/25
actinic 420
Aquablue +
Actinic Blue

what do you guys think? Either that or removing th 420 and replacing it with some type of daylight.

Had my Tx5 for a few years now. I just replaced my bulbs after extensive research. I too like the blue look with lots of color so here is what I got:

ATI aquablue special
ATI blue+
ATI purple+
ATI blue+
ATI aquablue special

I used the ATI blue+ bulbs when I first got the fixture and tried a few different looks since(actinics, etc). None of the setups looked as good as the ATI's. The only difference was I used many different bulbs in the middle instead of that ATI purple+(75/25, daylight bulb, etc)

I tried Geisman bulbs the last time around and they looked ok but I much prefer the ATI blue+ bulbs. They are very popular around here. I have a FOWLR so PAR isn't something I really even care about, it's more about the look of the tank for me.

EDIT: lol well I just noticed that the last post in this thread was april, 2009. A bit late to the party. STILL LOVE THE ATI BULBS! :)
