Current 12g aquapod stock pump size.

well after asking for help on this subject and not a single person answering me. i decided to rip apart my tank to replace the stock pump in my 12 gallon aquapod. i wanted to post this information up so that other who do a search can find this information.


Stock pump info:

SP-160 submersible pump

AC 120V-60HZ 0.23A 13W

head max 5.5FT output max 160GPH

Made in china

i hope this helps others out who were wanting to know the specs of the stock pump without having to rip apart the tank.

I think everybody just takes it out and replaces it with a MJ900 to lower temps and get more flow as most people here suggest.

oh and 1 other thing. i did end up replacing my stock pump after trying a few different pumps. i tried the following

Maxi jet 900: 230GPH

maxi jet 1200: 295GPH

i ended up going with the 1200 since the 900 just didnt seem like it had much more then the stock pump. but there is a noticable difference between the stock pump and the maxi jet 1200.

in no way was this an attack. i just wanted this info to be out there as i really havent had any luck with people helping in this section. so i wanted to put the info out there for the people who wanted to know the specs on the stock pump.

i am the kind of person were if you tell me to just replace the stock pump with a maxijet 900 i still want to know the difference between the 2 pumps before i waste my money and dont know all the facts.
