I am about to buy a ro/di and was wondering if I needed one with a flush kit. It seems like I have read threads that talk about not using them, but I can't really remember. Can anybody help me?

also what would be the advantage to getting a 50gpd RO/DI unit instead of a 75gpd unit for the same price.

1. flush kit would help the membrane last the couple of years that it should, by not flushing it, it might not last as long.

2. no advantages, more like a disadvantage, it would take a longer time to fill up the jug with r/o water.

how often do you flush it?

some say once a week, some say after every use. i've waited two weeks once and saw all this black stuff when i flushed my spectrapure. now i do it for 30 seconds after every use.

the RO membrane is the most expensive part, if you can prolong its life with a $10 piece of plastic and tubing, do it.

rumor is units with GPD over 75 have lower contact time with the membrane hence more TDS, but i have no personal experience with it.
