galvatron3000,

Thank you for your inquiry. We apologize that we are unable to guarantee a specific gender of the specimen, as the items we offer are in their juvenile state and it is almost impossible to determine their sex. When deciding to breed a specific species we recommend placing an order for 4 or more of the specimen. This will increase the chances that you would receive a male and a female.

In case you haven't noticed, the Fridmanis are on sale this week (28.99). Ask and ye shall receive I guess, or an uncanny coincidence.

Badonkadonk, Yeah, I am aware but I was trying to breed and this sale is intriguing but defeats my purpose for asking because I wanted to try to breed. I'm still considering a purchase but these fish are violent towards each other and I don't have a place for 4 and that's just taking a chance that one is atleast opposite gender.

LA2,

thanks for the speedy response. Here's a something I'd like to see in the future. Pairs for well known breedable fish for those who would like to participate in the process and help with the hobby by breeding tank bred species.

galvatron3000,

Thank you for your inquiry. Our Diver’s Den frequently offers numerous breedable fish pairs. These can be found in the fish section here (http://www.liveaquaria.com/diversden/CatDisplay.cfm?c=2733+3&count=162&s=sna). If we can be of additional assistance, please feel free to let us know.

Breeding dottybacks isn't that hard. They can change sex, so you would be best to buy two small juvi's like liveaquaria is saying their fish are, or buy a large one and a small one.

It is best to give the smaller fish a hiding place in the top of the tank. PVC pipe with a cap on both sides with a smaller hole drilled on one side are the best for breeding. Make sure there are more hiding spots than fish.

BTW, fridmani aren't that aggressive as far as dottybacks actually one of the most peaceful species.

And I think liveaquaria, does a good job at offering pairs. They always have clown pairs on Diver's Den, and have had some psuedo pairs of species that are more aggressive and harder to pair.

A lot of fish are easy to pair, everyone thinks of clowns though and those can take years after establishing a pair to spawn, that's why its better to buy pairs of those, but other fish are pretty easy to pair up, despite everyone belief that saltwater fish can only be kept singly.
