Hey guys. I got a Kenya tree last week and it has been switching between looking healthy and dead. It recently bent over so I put it sideways on the live rock in a place with much better flow. Is it ok for them to be sideways? Any other tips appreciated also.

Might be too much flow, some days, mine will be closed and bent over all day, then open up the next day, id put it in less flow

I also have a question about a Kenya tree. When I saw your post about a drouping tree it caught my eye. It was added to my reef last year and grew very fast dropping frags as they do. Its about 5X the original size, but no longer fuzzy. Thought it might be the flow, but from the posts seems to be not the case. Any thoughts?
Nothing has changed in my tank and from the Kenya's rapid growth all seemed well.

kenya trees loves flow, check water parameters like pH,softies are very sensitive to that change as long as its not melting. I wish you were closer because I have tons of kenya tree I would love to get rid of.

mine does the same thing I couldn't figure it out why!? I move it around in the tank and I think its going to be the flow.

I was cleaning the other day and I moved a powerhead so it would be easier to clean around and I must of changed the flow near the Kenya. It closed up even more. Yes its the flow. Thanks
I've been in the hobby for a long time and its still a little trial and error in what you do.

I'm no expert but, but I hear that any happy Kenya tree will drop off branches (frags) does it look good? And do you have enough calcium for it to grow?

I pick up the frags it throws and use super glue gel to glue it to a rock. Its worked so far. You can also cut a branch and glue it.

Mine must be happy because it throws frags. However, when the light comes on in the morning it is laying horizontally but straightens up after a while. Go figure. :)

Guess you have to have the right amount of flow. Mine has been dropping branches.

Wonder if its better to glue them or use rubberband?

When the coral frags itself, I figure I might as well use them.

I have done both with most success. The glue is quicker and easier I find and don't have to go in after the frag to remove the rubberband later.

Once you get them growing they don't stop, and they drop branches off themselves and float around the tank until they get a foot hold.

If anyone wants tree frags you can have all you want. Mine drops so many, all you have to do is stand in front of my door and catch them as I toss them out in the yard. I've sold, traded, and given them to everyone I know and they keep on dropping new ones.

Mine is close to the size of two softballs when fully open.
