Hey guys!I`m experincing a colour losing problem with my tank. When I purchased any SPS with green colour,it becomes light green or even yellow very shortly.Actually most SPS in my
tank gets lighter than when it comes.Anyone got any idea about it?Does it require any particular element to keep this colour?

I can keep pocci and birdsnest green, but mille's and youngei's turn florescent yellow. I blame it on my overlighted tank. What type of coral is it.

I seem to remember people saying Iron / Iodine one of the "I" elements to keep the green. Someone chime in and dot my eye please.

For green color its Iron, but not really sure it works i have some green in my tank that is amazing then some others that turned an ugly yellow, so im still trying to figure this out.

I have a yellowish A. tenuis and an A. gemmifera (maybe humilis) that both appear to shift towards greenish with the addition of a little iron (using FM's trace elements). The downside is I also seem to get algae growth with that addition...

can you provide some info on lights and parameters in the tank?

It took me a while to figure this one out. Essential elements works for me, but Lugol will work too.

iodine, amino acids, shorter photo period, posible no2 or po4 problem; it could be a several things. Try a search; I'm sure there's a few good threads around. Ca sounds really high 990? Is this ppm?

How deep is the tank? Under 24"...For a 10 bulb setup running front to back? I think 10 hours is way too much light if all 10 are on for the 10 hours. I'd do more looking into your water quality IMO this has more to do with coral color then the lighting.

I'm still working on a concept, I've a number of the suppliments like Iron without improvement. What I have noticed is that green may be a better indicator of nutrient levels than element levels.

I think when you feed lightly or have a low bio load or have an overly agressive export system, that green is one of the first colors to suffer.

So green needs more nutrients in the tank

I'm not making that call yet, but I've noticed that green can be sensitive to low bio levels.
