View Full Version : MRC Kalk reactor with Tunze Osmolator?

Hi Scott,

I currently have a MRC custom sump and CR-2 Ca reactor. I'm thinking of getting one of their Nilsen (Kalk) reactors to dose Kalk with my top off water. I'm currently using a Tunze Osmolator. I assume that I can just put a check valve on the Osmolator top off water tubing and connect it to the MRC Nilsen reactor? Will it fit the John Guest (?) speed fitting on the MRC unit?

Also, I have about 220 gallons total volume, but I don't have a huge amount of top off volume everyday...although I'm not sure how much exactly since the Tunze Osmolator pump is in my RODI 40G storage container. I think a small Nilsen reactor should be enough?

Thanks!

Alin2,

The Tunze Osmolator is perfect for the new MRC Nilsen. Instead of the top-off going directly into the sump, it will now go through the Nilsen.

Without knowing how much evaporation you have, it's tough to gauge the appropriate unit. One thing to think about: the larger units hold more kalk, this require fewer refils and can handle larger evaporation rates.

Thanks for the input MRC.
