Was wondering how much sand to put in? Also what to make it a reef tank will t5s work for lighting?

I would go with just 1" for looks, I have concerns over deep sand beds. If you do go DSB, I would limit it at 4", as the newest research seems to question the value of going any deeper than 4". To figure out your sand needs use L x W x Thickness of sand wanted/20= Lbs of sand needed.

I added 50lbs in my 90 gal. The depth is between 1 and 3 inches. I like the way the sand looks, 50lbs isnt over bearing IMO. You can take a look at my gallery to get an idea if you want

i agree with airdog about 50lbs should be a good amount. the lighting all depends on what your looking to keep. have you thought about maybe mh ?
