it works really well with a mag pump around 600 gph.

CAPN!
thank you!

the reason was i was looking to tweak it see if i can make it run a bit better. it always skims tea colored even with the cup all the way up and its always wet. and so i figured ill make the reaction chamber longer and make the pump bigger and see if i can make it perform better.

reason why im asking is because i came acrosst a pump for 1000gph for 36$ and for 700gph for 29$

and i was more inclined to see if the bigger one worked.
do you have any idea? if no i might settle for the smaller one like you said

1000 gph would be a TON through something that size. When these were new, a Mag 3 was a common upgrade, but the MJ you have on there now is probably almost as good. Maybe a mag 5?

Another trick might be to try a needlewheel pump, but before long, you're gonna run into a neck size restriction as far as how much air you can cram through it.

You mention altering the height of the reaction chamber - do you mean the neck on the collection cup, or the chamber itself?

If you're gonna be going under the knife, might as well make the neck diameter bigger if you can. IMHO that's the real restriction in this thing, as long as you have a way to trap microbubbles.
