So, doing a little troubleshooting. All I have available is a DVOM for electronic readings.

How do I figure if it is the ballast or sockets that are messing up?

I dont really want to buy a 40 dollar ballast just to check the sockets or buy sockets and need a ballast.

No spare parts for testing.

Any ideas?

Hmm. Ya got me on that one, electrical is not one of my better areas.

That being said, I haven't had nor seen a socket go bad (are you talking MH?) but I've seen a lot of ballasts go bad.

Lately at our woodshop, where we have a LOT of high-bay T5HO lights, our ballasts have been dying on us left and right, after about a year.

What are your lights doing? What are the symptoms that you're seeing?

what type of lights? MH, T5, PC?

redfishsc- your right- not many scokets go bad unless they burn up, but it does happen. also you would visablie see that they were burned.
