Hello I have a 50g breeder 36L x 18H x 18W with a sump made from a 20L 30L x 12H x 12W.

Can I run an oct extreme 160 in there?

I love these skimmers and be pretty good for this reef build.

Any suggesttions for the sump setup would help. havent made the baffles yet. Thinking a QuietOne 3000 return pump its rated 780. My overflow is gonna be two 1" pipes

Have you considered a 200? I have seen some complain about the pump being mounted underneath the 160, making access difficult. If you plan to run the pinwheel, it won't be much of an issue except for routine cleaning. I use a 30g for my sump and my MSX200 fits in the sump, albeit tightly.

Yes a 160 will fit just fine. I'd set the skimmer section depth to 8"-9" max.

I use Melev's design "F". Works well. Does require either a split drain or split return. His site has tons of good info.

Yea I liked those oct extreme so a 160 would be perfect for this small setup

How much would a 200 run?

A 200 can be had in the $300 range.
