anyone have more info on it? who's jeremy! is it just green or do I see blue in there to?

hi stony_corals I was almost to order one, but now that you saw it can you tell me why you don't like it, is color shape etc?
they say this montipora is not a digitara and is a slow grower. thanks

Jeremy is a LFS owner in Southern Massachusetts... and a sponsor of the Boston Reefers Society.

ORA also released a green cap that originally came from Jeremy's Store a few months ago as well... his store is called CRA (coral reef aquarium).

I believe he sent them a number of corals a few years back after ORA was devastated by hurricane Katrina.

And yes, this is their newest release.

Just my opinion.... Green is common enough, now if it didn't have as much PE and showed the blue coloration better, that would be awesome. While I like the Bird of Paradise, it'd be much prettier without those huge polyps hiding the purple coloration.

Just my opinion, if you like it, that's all that matters :)

as for it being disappointing...

is it a coral of the caliber of a "pearlberry" or "red planet" ... well no, it's not.

But ORA tries to appeal to all people, not just the people that want to spend 80 dollars on a 1" fragment of pearlberry or red planet..

they have a lot of frags that they sell at a lesser price, like say 30 or 40 dollars, and although they aren't as nice as some of the more expensive ones, they are still nice.

i do believe it has a light blue base...

Nah...

That $80 pearlberry is nowhere near that wholesale... the price is chosen by your LFS's based on the market, and what you guys are willing to pay. Alot of those $70-$100 corals cost the same, or are within $5-$10 of those $40-$50 ones wholesale.

Im pretty sure you are right on that. I know the stores in the richy parts of this area have some pretty steep prices vs. some other stores locally. There is one that is in a not so hot part of town that always has very nice looking stock for much less.

Two stores i stopped by yesterday both had sixline wrasses, both looked totally healthy. One was $28 the other was $16.99.

wholesale when i worked for my fish store of the higher end aquacultures (granted not necessarily the pear berry or red planet, or even ORA in general...) but they tended to range from 20-50 with 20 being the cheaper ones, like this montipora...


either way.. they can't come out with a "wow" coral every month...

we know what this coral is and where not asking to ID it! just did not hear about this release sooner,was a little odd!
