Well I had a 16g nano going for about two years, but I always wanted an upgrade. So I sold or gave most of my stock away and got my self a 29g oceanic biocube.

As you can see I have not added a lot of stock yet, but the main reason for this new tank is stonies.

I'll post more pics as I put more stock in. I have to say so fare I love my Cube!

You're off to a great start there! I like it!

In your old tank, is that a Sea Clone skimmer I see in there? How did you get it to stop making micro bubbles?

It was, I never had an issue with bubbles mainly because its return was so close to the main they washed out.

I will say it never worked very well. IMO only don’t waste your money, simply keep up on your water changes or if you have a lot of evaporation top off nightly.

LOL if they give me a hard time about the hippo, then wait until they notice the trigger!

Just so everyone knows, I raised a Niger Trigger in my 16g nano until he reached a size of about 3" at that time I gave him to a buddy. (For a frag)

Because I had become a "foster fish home" my wife who loves "Dory" asked me to do they same with that fish. She understands he will be removed soon.

I will say he is very gentle, so fare, so good.

How do you keep the tank so algie free? it is a constant struggle in my cube

My cleaners are:
10 Blue leg hermits
1 cleaner shrimp
1 fire shrimp

If you dose you maybe over doing it or over feeding.

Do you have it near a window? Or some source of natural light?

You may be over feeding.

What are your cleaners?

Thank you!

Aquaticdiver:
The red coral in the 16g nano is:
Mushroom Polyp - Ricordea RED (There are many colors)

The coral that is RED is Pink Seriatopora the white tips you see is new growth, and the purple tent I think is more from the lighting. You really only see that in the photo.

Yes the lighting is stock for the pod

Take some of your water into your LFS & have him test for phosphates. Your either dosing something too much, over feeding, or something.

1 - only feed enough food that the fish eat in 3 to 5 minutes. Keep the pumps off when feeding to let the rest of the food settle down on to the corals & rock

2 - check your lighting schedule, your lights really only need to be on for around 7 to 9 hours. This also is for the corals. The fish couldn't care less about the light.

3 - dont have the tank where it exposed to the sunlight. This will grow algea very fast.

It might be tuff in the photo to see, but the mushrooms are growing all over that crack between the rocks.

Are you sure you gave him away, because it looks like he is in your new tank as well.

Nice start, if anyone gives you a hard time about that hippo just remind them that no tank compares to these fish natural home.. I got a purple tang in my 12g nano.

Yes there is a trigger in there, but he is #2.

Yes I know all to well about the "feelings" people have about certain fish. For now all mine seem to be very happy!

He is even bigger than the one you had in your previous tank, so I'm just saying why would you get another one just to give it away, or it is the same one? I'm done now with my complaining.

As I said he is a new one. I like that fish a lot, however they will out grow a 30g in no time. Think of it this way, I’m renting for awhile and then trade in for a frag.
