Hello everyone.

I'm not a pro photo guy, I just want to take some pictures of my tank and coral. But my present camera, a poor Cassio 5.1 mega pixel, 3x digital zoom cybershot can't do the job. The camera don't capture the real colors that my eyes see, all colors becomes a little blue and I also can't capture corals details like small polyps, even when I set the macro mode is dificult.

So now I'm looking for a new camera that is not a profissional one, but can make good pictures, just it. So I'm here for some suggestions. Limit price U$400. Which camera you guys believe that will meet my goals?

Canon G10, $440.

I think this would be your best bet, if you aren't interested there are other less quality less pricey options I suppose.

please don't judge me for my ignorance but in witch point at the address below you think the G10 will be better for my goals (color and close pictures)?

The G10 is capable of shooting in RAW and has sufficient optics and electronics to do reasonably color accurate images of coral subjects. You'd be hard pressed to find that level of peformance without going to a dSLR, in which case you'd be spending a lot more for the back by itself, let alone any decent special purpose lenses.

All of the above (I'm assuming it's an SX10 IS). Unless your looking at $1000 worth of DSLR kit...I would bet all of the above.

I had the g10 and I found the Panasonc fz 28 easier to use. Both shoot in raw and have alot of the same features. THe G10 is a great camera no doubt. It was a little above me. I found for what I needed the panasonic fz 28 had a easier user interface for me.
Here are some pics I took with it if it is at all helpful

The top pic taken by my FZ28, bottom two by the canon G10.I am am sure its all about the user. But again the fz 28 was easier for me.

The RAW capability is the some kind of macro? SX10 can't do the RAW?

What exacly is LDRS, something that will improve pictures quality? but I think this is for professionals. Looking at Mojo pictures I could say that those type of pics are enought for me. His camera capture colors much better than my poor casio.

RAW is an image storage format that contains the unmodified "raw" image sensor data before the camera applies its white balancing and processing. One would select to store one's images in RAW on the camera, just as one would select large or small jpeg as the image storage format.
