This was given to me as they where going on holidays, my system is pretty new so I hope it makes it. This will be my very first anemone so hopefully it goes smooth, my buddy said it was a magnifica, from what I've read they can be pretty tough to care for. I have 8-T5's with lots of flow. It has not been fed since friday, going to try to feed her tomorrow once it settles in.

If you need better pictures I'll try later.

Looks like a bleached but otherwise in pretty good shape magnifica to me. if you get a shot closer up of the purple part, maybe with flash using the macro setting we might be able to confirm the id.

Here is few more. How long should I wait to give him a meal?

I normally say wait a month, but this guy is getting no food from the zoozanthelle, so I would start feeding something tiny like mysis in a very small amount now. No one really knows the "right" answer to that though.

That next pic confirms the ID of magnifica. If you have a clownfish, especially a pink skunk or ocellaris I would introduce them to it. With magnificas, I think the clown helps more than hurts.

I have a pair of tank raised false perculas, they dont even look at it, maybe within the next couple days, they will take to him. The anemones tips are a bright lime green/yellow in color but the rest of him is a bright white, what color should he be? I'll try to feed him tomorrow, and see what happens, right now he's holding on tight to that rock where I put him, his mouth is close tight, and seems to look good. Thanks again

He need lots of light and good amount of current. He should have tan tentacles with green or yellow tip. Hope his purple base will get darker when he he get his healthy back.

As soon as the percs touch it they will almost certainly move in. With percs and a magnifica I don't think you will have a problem if you coax them over to it with your hand or with food.

You said the system is on the new side. What are your parameters?

This is a really nice anemone that a lot of people would work hard to get. They are very tough to find in a healthy condition and yours looks good (other than the bleaching which is fixable)

He looks amazing today, my perculas have found him, there in heaven. My water is very good, Nitrates 0, ammonia 0, nitrites 0
well thats what they where before I added the Mag. I'll post pitures later.

I have a power head blowing just off him is that alright or should I have it right on him?

I prefer just above, but they are found in widely varying conditions in the wild. You just want to avoid blowing into the mouth. What is your salinity and how do you measure it? That seems to be a common problem with newer reefers and anemones. I would also suggest testing magnesium if you don't already.

I dont test magnesium, but I do have a vertex refractometer 1.026 or 35%, I have some shirmp that I bought uncooked of course, I'm going to cut it up in smaller peaces, will he take it right away or should I just drop it on his mouth?

The clowns might bring food to the anemone (or take it away, you never know) But I would just use tiny pieces near the mouth.

Salinity sounds good.

If you have two PH, arrange for the stream meet just above him, then he will be in anemone heaven (on Earth that is).

Right now I have the power head blowing right above him, his on a constant move so I think I have that coverd, its only been two days and he has not moved so hopefully hes happy.
