2" square .120 thick steel tube. Dead flat and level. This is not a unique design. Assumed the dimensions........ rigid top frame, use 2 x 3 steel.

How rude of me, but I don't really look at the post count, but ditto to theshiver.:o

Make a stand chest height. Viewing is alot nicer seeing the water surface from under, that's my next stand.

This is a big tank, and the top will be around 5' up as it is, but I agree that would be cool. Gunna need a ladder to get in it already.:D Puttin that much weight, 2.5 tons, up that high-- would bother me a bit though. Especially if I got the footprint wrong. :)

Jim

P.S. Thanks for your service.

uncleof6's would work. It might be easier though to just do a straight forward job with all 2 inch.

This way:
Divide it into thirds. The back the middle and the front. Divide it into the same four areas as shown because two foot spans are fine.

Put a vertical under every joint. That would be um..(15) If you don't, you'll have to go back to the 1.5"x3" which is heavier.

For racking run one diagonal from the center to the back of one square. Run another from a center to an adjacent.

Call it a day.

BTW make sure you can fit this in the door!! And Estimate its weight. You better check the floor too.

thank's for all your help my tank is 120x30x36 and it is going to split my dinning room and a sunken living room my house has a half basement and half crawl space where the tank is going to set there is a cender block wall that will be just off center of the tank and I plan on putting a steel I beam on both the front and rear edge of tank with floor jacks on 3' centers think this will work:confused:

Thinking this will do fer a stand.... it should hold your M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank with little problems. Stronger than your floor at this point. A tornado will still relocate it down the block, around the corner and up a tree, but baring that...........

If wanting to put your sump directly on the floor, the bottom front to back pieces can be eliminated. (middle three) This started as an original design but I went looking for a better anti-racking scheme--- :smokin:
