I am a fan of these guys and would like to keep one eventually. I did read on WWM that they aren't very hardy and can be pretty difficult to take care of. Any specific reason why?

I just had to ask because the one that's been on DD for the past week or so is calling to me :D. If only I had a bigger tank.

Really any advice or experiences are good-feel free to add whatever.

Yeah I am a big fan of angels, but my FOWLR isn't big enough to hold anything I really want to get for life.

We're in the same boat-Can't wait to finish school and get a job for that upgrade :). There are just too many cool fish out there.

Here's an idea, instead of having to wait, buy the fish now and get them shipped to my house. I'll gladly house them and send you pictures and later on if you upgrade, I'll ship them back to you.

What a bargain, lol.

I just don't have room for a bigger tank in my condo. When I move to a house in a few years (assuming the housing market recovers) I'll get a bigger tank then.

I haven't kept this angel, but while it has a reputation for being a bit delicate, you probably have a good shot with one from DD.

I know how it is to have fish on DD calling your name... I have too many fish and not enough tank space! I'd advise you to wait at least a few months (and for the bigger tank). While you are very conscientious, you are still relatively new to saltwater, and you've had to struggle with some disease issues.

I'd go ahead and get one from DD once you have a larger tank that is pretty mature - at least 8-12 months - with no recent problems with water quality or disease.

Thanks Lisa-just to clarify I wasn't thinking about buying this guy :). This thread was pretty much just for curiosities sake.

I won't be buying any large fish until the big tank is eventually set up and good to go. I plan to let the tank mature for at least a couple months before I put anything in it. I figure that way I'm hopefully killing off any disease brought in on the new rocks as well as letting it have a chance to "break in."

For the time being I'll only be getting one more fish-I'm thinking potter's angel right now. Sweet fish and actually small enough for my 85 :).

I always wanted a majestic but held off for a long time because I had also heard of their reputation for not doing well. I picked up a nice fat 4" one about 15 months ago that was eating well and its just been a bulletproof fish so far. Your plan sounds good, angels really do much better in an aged system.

I had one that was great, but ended up being too mean to a new angel, I think an emp, moved it out.....should've kept it in and let it ride out. It was very hardy.
