I recently added a frag tank that measures 36"x18"x12". I put the 36" TX5 fixture on it with the metal mounting brackets right on top. I put some zoos on the bottom of the tank and they closed up within a day and became covered in algae. Is this fixture too strong? I cut back to three bulbs on and little to no improvement. Should I get the hanging kit and raise the fixture?

bigsink,

How long has it been since you cut back on the lighting? Make sure your water parameters are good and cut back on the photo period of your lighting. Start off with around 2-3 hours per day and slowly over the next two weeks bring it back up until you reach your desired lighting schedule.

Thank you,

Tom

What type of bulbs do you have.

+1 for cut back on photoperiod
