View Full Version : C skim 1200 aspiration pump problem

My aspiration pump isn't working properly. I got the skimmer back in December and put it on my tank in Feburary.

My skimmer wasn't making any bubbles and I took the pump apart and put together about 5 times with no success. I finally ran just the aspiration pump in the sink with the lid removed and saw the impellar wasn't spinning like it normally does. I was more vibrating and sometimes spinning slowly.

Is this a impellar or pump issue?

Is there any local dealers near Rochester NY I could go to to try to get this replaced under warranty? Or at least get the part I need?

My obvious concern is until I get this fixed, my tank has no skimming, so I want to get my c-skim 1200 back up and skimming like it normally does as quickly as possible.

Thanks for your help - Matt Genzman

Is the impellar gummed up with calcium?(Shaft) Maybe soak the pump disassembled in vinegar/water overnight?? Airflow valve blocked?

Genzman, drop an email over to Red Sea USA ([email protected]). Sounds like a faulty pump which may have over-heated and caused the impeller to stick. See if the impeller is easy to remove, and if you take it out does it look like there is a flaw inside the pump impeller chamber? I am sure Pinky will help you to resolve this quickly.
