does anyone know of a chart that calculates the percentage saturation of kalkwasser based on it's known pH?

TIA :)

Saturated is about 12.46. Every 0.3 units reduction amounts to a cut of about 50% in concentration. The pH meter is not going to be accurate at 12.46, so I'd make a saturated solution of kalk and measure that as the base.

Limewater pH also depends on temperature since Ca(OH)2 dissolves better the colder the water is.

I'm not sure there is any truth to that statement. :(

Well it does

Here's an example: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/7c/Solubility_Ca%28OH%292.pdf

Gary,

A conductivity meter is the best way to measure how saturated your kalk is, especially in larger holding containers. ;)

Randy's article explains this much better than I can:

thanks for all the help :)

taking some cold kalkwasser and boiling it in a pot on the stove sure does yield some interesting observations!

I would imagine it would be quite tasty with all those heavy metals and calcium carbonate spices.
