I dip corals in Tropic Marin Pro Coral Cure but dont QT. The last thing I bought had a hidden mantis shrimp that was found due to dipping. I am not setup for it. I have not gotten anything bad yet including ick and am not suggestion people do what I do.

I have skipped the ole QT and been bit several times over the years and landed just about every baddie you can get. As the dollar value of your reef goes up, QT takes on a whole new meaning....

I've QT'd my fish as a precaution however I never had an outbreak in my QT... I wonder if that had to do with the whole stress=low immune system= disease argument. My new fish have a stress free environment to get used to my husbandries. And after 6-8 weeks later it's a small transition to the big tank.

Anyone can introduce Ich(cryptocarion irritans), monti nudibranchs, velvet/oodinium, red bugs, sundial snails, acro eating flatworms, eucinid worms, amphipods, various types of fungus, lymphocistis, etc. I have always religiously QTd and have never introduced anything unwanted into my main tank. Others have not QTd and have been lucky but some, likely, will bring something in sooner or later.

I have caught ich and elegance crabs in QT but took care of them there.

i treated wtih potasium permanganate. 50mg/L

killed the nudi's but not the coral.

it is now in QT. i hope none slid off while in my tank.

Herpes- that's funny and sad at the same time. i got it from my wife and married her anyway. we have a special bond. no outbreaks in many years. but that is a different thread.
